My Story
Parenting was something I once thought I could just skip—“I’ll just have a dog or 2!”
Eventually, I did become a parent – a scary thing at the time for someone who did not feel she could manage herself very well – so how then could I be a good enough parent!
Parenting humbled me and broke my heart open in ways I never would have imagined. It required and grew my courage—no more hiding and playing small.
When I needed to advocate for my children's health, I had conversations with strangers, confronted Doctors and spoke my truth like I never had before.
In taking a stand for my children’s health, we found a remarkable way for them to thrive. I also found a strength, love and determination I would never have thought was inside me!
Fast forward 25 years.
I’m holistically-oriented, pretty clear that menopause is a natural transition a woman’s body goes thru, not the big deal people seem to be making about it.
I felt angry at people who treated it like a disease, or a miserable experience until…
Suddenly my brain went offline, my moods and energy were one big unpredictable roller coaster.
For 2 years my life felt messier than ever, my memory went awol, my self-esteem tanked. I wanted to run away and hide in a cave. Bit by bit I discovered ways to befriend my changing self, relearning to love and accept who I was morphing into.
From the physical, mental and emotional symptoms to the void of being between 2 different versions of who you thought you were and were supposed to be.
The changes are unsettling at best, and often deeply disturbing.

I love the beautiful light that shines from Sarah’s soul. When you’re with Sarah, you just know that you’re with someone safe and capable.”
